Next up is Choke by Chuck Palahniuk. No, I have no idea how to say his last name.
This won’t be my first Palahniuk. Survivor has that honor. But that’s the only Palahniuk I’ve read. I remember being very engaged in the story and unable to put it down. I have a feeling that Choke will be the same way. I get the sense that most of Palahniuk’s book are like that.
Other than Survivor, my contact with Palahniuk up to now was watching “Fight Club” in college. Unfortunately, because of reasons, the only thing I remember from that movie is the big twist at the end. So…yeah. If my Twin reads this I’m sure she’ll laugh because I referenced this night.
I have some concerns about reading Choke. I have heard from several people that it’s amazing, mind-blowing, crazy, etc, but I’m afraid. Even though I’ve only read one other Palahniuk and half-remember a movie based on one of his books, I feel like I already have a sense of his voice. I kind of feel like all of his characters are the same. They all seem to have some weird, weird, weird quirk/habit and then other stuff happens. I’m worried that Palahniuk novels all follow the same basic formula (which I guess I haven’t figured out yet) and have the same overall voice, plot, story, etc.
I guess since I haven’t read enough yet to be bored with this “formula” or Palahniuk’s voice, so I’m not sure why I’m so concerned about this. Maybe “concern” is the wrong word. I’m looking forward to being amazed.

HAHAHA, ohhh, Fight Club Night. Our dear Soap has told me some stories about that night…………. Anyway. Choke has the honor of being my first Palahniuk. (As I’ve probably told you.) It’s pretty good, bro. I think you’ll like it.
